Health Tips for Pregnant Women

The moment you get to know that you have a little person growing inside you, everyone, including you, becomes excited. But there are incidents where the babies don’t see the light of the day due to some complications. From the very first day, a new would-be mom has to be very careful till the very end of the delivery. This article will deal with some healthy tips that can be beneficial for pregnant women. Let’s have a look at them.

Maintaining a proper weight

One of the most important things to bear in mind while having a baby is maintaining a good weight. If you want an easy birth, then having the right kind of weight helps. If you are overweight, then you become prone to high blood pressure and gestational diabetes. Being overweight during pregnancy also can cause complications during the delivery. A chance of the baby being obese also remains. Also, if you are underweight, it might affect you and the baby adversely. So it is very crucial to maintain a proper weight during the entire period of your pregnancy. Your “perfect weight” during pregnancy is determined by the BMI (body mass index). You can consult your gynecologist or dietician regarding that.

Do some exercise

One of the wrong conceptions that people have in mind is that one should be in total rest during pregnancy. This concept is partially correct as it is necessary for the ‘would-be mom’ to be active throughout her pregnancy. In fact, many new moms work at their office till 5-6 months of their pregnancy. You can also visit various yoga centers for pregnant ladies who offer a proper workout for new mommas. These exercises help to lower stress levels, improve blood circulation and improve your mood. A minimum of 30 minutes’ exercise is necessary for any pregnant lady out there.

Eating healthy

Once you are pregnant, you will have cravings or different kinds of food, and that’s normal. But overindulging in them might be harmful to you and the baby. Once you know that you are pregnant, you need to take good care of your food. The food not only fills your stomach but also its nutrients help the baby to grow. Apart from having at least 8-10 glasses of water every day, you need to have folate-rich food. Folate-rich food is rich in folic acid, which in turn builds the neural tube. It also helps to prevent any kind of significant birth defect. So try to add oranges, asparagus, wheat germ, and lentils to your diet.

Have fishes

Since, during pregnancy, the smell sense is heightened; many women don’t like fish. But what most new mommas don’t realize is that fishes are not only a high source of protein but also Omega 3. Studies have revealed that women who had fish in their diet during pregnancy had babies with higher IQ. Omega 3 is one of the most important nutrients that help in brain development. But since fishes contain mercury too, so FDA advises women not to intake more than 12 ounces of fish.

Have water

One of the easiest and healthy tips for any pregnancy is having an ample amount of water. For the proper flow of blood as it has to do extra work with the baby within you. So having an ample amount of water makes sure that you don’t get constipation, UTI, swelling issues, and fatigue during pregnancy. So make sure to drink 8 – 10 glasses of water throughout the day. You can make it lime water or add some ORS if you don’t like to drink plain water.

No alcohol

One of the things you have to remember is that once you are pregnant, you CAN NOR DRINK! It might be hard, but even a small sip might turn out to be dangerous for your kiddo. Alcohol is one of the reasons why babies suffer from FASD (fetal alcohol spectrum disorder). So if you want a normal birth and no complications for your baby, then avoid alcohol during pregnancy.

In conclusion, these are some easy and effective health tips that any pregnant woman can follow. You can also consult your gynecologist and dietician if you want to go for some extra healthy tips.
